Special Educational Needs
At Haddenham St Mary’s CE School we believe that each child is individual and unique. The aim of our school is to enable all children to reach their full potential, building on their different strengths, abilities, interests and needs. We acknowledge that a significant proportion of pupils will have special educational needs at some time during their school career. Many may require additional support throughout their time in school, whilst others may need a little extra support for a short period to help overcome more temporary needs.
Our supportive environment aims to:
- enable every pupil to experience success
- promote individual confidence and a positive attitude
- ensure that all pupils, whatever their special educational needs, receive appropriate educational provision through a broad and balanced curriculum that is relevant and differentiated, and that demonstrates coherence and progression in learning
- give pupils with SEND equal opportunities to take part in all aspects of the school’s provision, as far as is appropriate
- identify, assess, record, and regularly review pupils’ progress and needs
- involve parents/carers in planning and supporting at all stages of their pupil’s development
- work collaboratively with parents, other professionals and support services
- ensure that the responsibility held by all staff and governors for SEND is implemented and maintained
All mainstream schools and maintained nursery schools are required by law to produce a Special Educational Needs Report on an annual basis.
The Special Educational Needs Report forms part of the HSM school’s Local Offer and the Little Forest Friends local offer both can be viewed on the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service website following this link:
